A RARE .36 PERCUSSION FIVE-SHOT REVOLVER, UNSIGNED, MODEL 'BREVETE COLT 'TEXAS' PATERSON', serial no. 493,
Belgian, circa 1850, with re-blued octagonal 7 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'BREVETE', small white-metal blade fore-sight, rear-sight notch to the hammer-nose, five shot cylinder with machined bands and squared shoulders, recoil shield without capping cut-out, open iron frame, flared one-piece smooth walnut grip and folding guardless trigger, no provision for rammer, the whole re-finished in antiquity, now faded or lost except where stated
Other Notes: 1000 only of the original 'Texas Paterson' revolvers were produced by Colt circa 1838-40. Only a handful of these Belgian copies are known, making it possibly rarer than the revolver it was imitating.
